Don’t Mess with the Don has four unique opportunities for companies to be part of an amazing team building day.
Team Building with Impact
Looking for a unique, engaging, and meaningful team-building experience? Don’t Mess with the Don offers four exceptional opportunities for companies to make a difference while strengthening their teams.
Over the past three years we have hosted more than 75 companies including Microsoft, TD Canada Trust, RBC, Amazon, Intact, TSX/TMX, Home Depot and Scotiabank. Our corporate events are very popular and a great way to give back to the environment in Toronto. Group sizes up to 200 are welcome. There is no cost for our events though we do work with companies on donations, support through granting programs and employee contributions.
Our Paddle & Protect Kayaking program is an awesome chance for companies to help restore Toronto’s waterways. Our guided paddles for groups up to 25 people to explore Toronto Islands, Tommy Thompson Park or the New Portlands while removing trash and plastics from Toronto’s Waterfront.

Skill level: Beginner friendly
What’s included: Stable sit-on-top kayaks (tandems available), paddles, PFDs, safety gear and expert guides.
Experience: Learn about local ecosystems, human impacts of plastics and trash and history while paddling
Our Stewardship program gives companies a chance to restore meadows and woodlands by removing invasive plants and planting native plants, shrubs and trees.

What’s included: Expert instruction, tools, gloves, soils and plants
Experience: Learn about biodiversity, pollinator friendly habitats and ecological restoration from our expert stewards.

Other ways to get involved

A clean-up event is a great opportunity for local businesses to connect with their community. We provide all the logistics. Our organization has many wonderful volunteers who appreciate your business’s support. Helping with costs such as T-shirts, food, drinks, and clean-up necessities like bags and gloves does so much to help us in the Don Valley.
-
Many businesses ask if they can bring their employees to an event to help out in the Don Valley. We can provide you with a list of upcoming events. Or, if you have more than 25 employees, we can organize a specific event around your company.

DMWTD is a registered charity and fully supported by donations. Helping us means we can help the environment. 100% of donations go directly to supporting our work. We really appreciate the help we get from the many companies who offer funds or products we can use to help with one of our programs: gardening supplies or plants for stewardship, garbage bags for clean-ups, or art supplies for our children’s art program. Product donations are also great for giving back to volunteers at events such as clean-ups, where we hold raffles along with BBQs to thank everyone for their hard work. We provide gift-in-kind charity receipts.

DMWTD is raising money for important capital projects, such as the recent acquisition of our new container at the Loblaws Trailhead. Associated costs, such as supplies for our kids arts & crafts program, and tools & equipment for our stewardship program, are also a major capital cost. If you are interested in finding out more about how your business can sponsor a specific capital or program item please let us know.
